The FODM is a subsea fiber optic distribution module designed for harsh offshore environments. It receives one incoming DC/FO cable and distributes signals to 12 wet-mate optical connectors mounted on flanges. The unit is protected by a trawl-resistant GRP cover and was engineered specifically for the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea.

Technical Description

Purpose: Subsea fiber optic signal distribution

Input: 1 x DC/FO cable

Outputs: 12 x wet-mate flange-mounted optical connectors

Protection: GRP trawl-resistant cover, secured with four 4-ton rock bags

Included equipment:

  • 6 x 35 m flying leads
  • 4 x topside test connectors/jumpers
