ELFO Subsea is delighted to kick off 2024 with thrilling news – the establishment of a significant partnership with Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), a distinguished industry leader and part of Nokia.
ELFO Subsea and ASN have joined forces
ASN, standing at the forefront of the submarine networking landscape, boasts an impressive track record of deploying over 750,000 km of optical submarine systems globally, equivalent to circumnavigating the globe 19 times. Their expertise spans traditional telecom applications to cutting-edge content and over-the-top service provider infrastructures, along with offshore oil and gas applications.
In a groundbreaking move, ELFO Subsea and ASN have joined forces to embark on an exciting venture. We are proud to announce the signing of a contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a subsea Fiber Optic Distribution Module, along with ancillary inter-connection hardware. This cutting-edge infrastructure will be seamlessly integrated into the existing DC/FO infrastructure on the Equinor operated Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea.
About Snøhvit Field
Situated in the central part of the Hammerfest Basin in the southern Barents Sea, Snøhvit features water depths of 310-340 meters. Discovered in 1984, it marked the first field development in the Barents Sea. The field includes the Snøhvit, Albatross, and Askeladd structures, developed in multiple phases with several subsea templates. Reservoirs, located at a depth of 2300 meters, produce gas with condensate from Lower and Middle Jurassic sandstone in the Nordmela and Stø Formations.
The production strategy involves pressure depletion, and the well stream, comprising natural gas, CO2, natural gas liquids (NGL), and condensate, is transported through a 160-kilometer pipeline to the LNG processing facility at Melkøya near Hammerfest. Snøhvit, currently in the plateau phase, is actively working towards onshore compression and electrification to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
